Southern Delaware Wine, Food & Music Fest holds kick-off party
The 5th Annual Southern Delaware Wine, Food & Music Festival held a kick-off party June 18 at Bluecoast Seafood Grill & Raw Bar Rehoboth, one of the festival’s sponsors.
This very popular event is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Independence Community Clubhouse, near Long Neck. The beneficiaries this year are the Beau Biden Foundation for the Protection of Children and Children & Families First.
Children & Families First Development Team Leader Laura Rimmer said, “Child abuse and neglect is real; it’s everywhere. It doesn't care how much money you make; it doesn't care what neighborhood you live in. It’s in all of our communities, it runs deep. It affects all of us.”
The Beau Biden Foundation for the Protection of Children Executive Director Patty Dailey Lewis spoke about the foundation’s mission. “We have a belief, we have a mission. and our mission is to confront abuse and protect children, and that's what we do.” Dailey Lewis went on to say, “We are committed to making sure that Delaware becomes the first state in the nation to fully train all of our citizens to prevent abuse.”
