The Stepping Stone American Handcrafts Gallery in Lewes invites the public to celebrate the wonders of American craft Saturday, Sept. 15. The gallery will be showcasing award-winning local Delaware artisan Karin Snoots, as well as the works of more than 130 other American artists who bring their vision and unique talent to every piece they create.
The Lewes Artists Studio Tour will also take place Sept. 15, featuring 21 local artists opening their individual working environments to the public in and around downtown Lewes. Tour-goers who purchase art that day can enrich their spirits at the same time they are supporting American artists and fine crafters.
The primary focus of Snoots’ art is the natural environment, and she has a steadfast commitment to preserving and protecting this precious natural heritage. She strives to continuously grow and change by pushing boundaries and exploring new mediums in which to create. Primarily she has specialized in painting with acrylics and oils. However, she has recently shifted away from traditional canvas to include repurposing nontraditional objects as the foundation on which to paint.
Shoots has received two grants from the Delaware Division of the Arts: 2008 Emerging Professional Fellowship and 2013 Professional Artist Fellowship. She has signature status in both the Artists for Conservation and the American Society of Marine Artists.
“Since early childhood, I have had a passion for art and nature. At the start of each new work, I reflect on all that I have learned and never take for granted all the blessings that have been put before me,” said Snoots.
