Stevens will be a champion for Dewey

September 17, 2020

I write to offer my support for Bill Stevens for Dewey Beach commissioner.  Although I’m a weekender/summer person now, I was born and raised at the Delaware beaches, and I consider Dewey Beach my true home.  I have been a property owner since 2001, and my children now carry on the tradition of summer jobs in Dewey.  There has always been something special about this town and the Dewey Beach Way of Life.  I see Bill Stevens as someone who will be a strong advocate for both preserving the Dewey way of life and moving the town forward in a responsible and responsive way.  He will listen to problems and concerns of residents, vacationers and businesses.  He will work to unify the property owners and business owners, to keep Dewey what we all love - a friendly, safe, and laid-back community, where families, singles, and retirees can all hang out together.

Bill has a tremendous background in finance and business, and that experience makes him uniquely qualified to serve the town. He and his wife, Janine, have chosen to make Dewey Beach their permanent, full-time home.  Bill has served on the town’s investment committee, audit committee, and the budget and finance committee.  He has pledged to improve the local economy by designing programs that provide sustainable sources of revenue.  He will help the town focus on its long-term plan for the future.  Bill is smart, driven, and focused.

Bill has also pledged to support public safety, a particular concern of mine and my family.  He will work to ensure that police, lifeguards and town employees have the resources and support they need to keep our community safe and well-run during these challenging times.  Bill will work to see that those public servants can continue to perform productively and professionally.  Despite the summer crowds, Dewey has always maintained a small-town feel, and I think Bill understands the importance of preserving that.  It is critical that everyone in the town feel safe at all times.  Bill understands that too.

Bill has said that he loves everything about Dewey Beach and wants to be its champion.  I love his positive energy, enthusiasm and sincerity.  Please consider voting for Bill Stevens for Dewey Beach commissioner.
