Summer’s Ends 5K produces fast field and lots of runners

Top 24 break 7 minutes per mile pace

The Summer’s End 5K stepped off Sept. 1 in Dewey Beach, attracting 291 runners, with the top 24 running under a 7-minute mile pace. 

Collin Lenoir, 24, of Wilmington was the overall winner in 17:07. He was joined on the male leaderboard by masters winner Kyle Brightbill in 17:19, Arjay Jensen in 18:15, Michael Marcinao in 18:21 and Sam Patterson in 18:33. 

Tatyana Steis, 44, of Arlington, Va., was the overall women’s winner in 20:36. She was joined on the leaderboard by masters winner Melissa McDermott in 21:23, Adrianna Borgia in 22:18, Mardiny Ung in 22:27 and Molly Benner in 22:30.

Male age-group champions include: 9-and-under, Matt Jensen, 23:27; 10-13, Brayden Perry, 20:40; 14-18, Eli Handbrough, 19:33; 19-24, Collin Lenoir, 17:07; 25-29, Wynston Johnson-Lynam, 18:37; 30-34, Mike Marciano, 18:21; 35-39, Mike Guessford, 19:17; 40-44, Kyle Brightbill, 17:19; 45-49, Arjay Jensen, 18:15; 50-54, Craig Schroeder, 23:23; 55-59, Brian Daugherty, 21:59; 60-64, Mike Smith, 22:20; 65-69, Rick Poppleton, 23:03; 70-74, Jules Woodall, 26:06; 75-79, Bill McArthur, 32:03; and 80-and-over, Courtney Riordan, 32:13.
