A super race on Super Bowl Sunday

Small numbers keep that personal touch

Small-venue fun on a Super Bowl Sunday morning 5K run in Lewes. A total of 70 fast runners joined walkers to complete the Super Duper Super Bowl Sunday 5K on a perfect bluebird day in paradise. 

Tyler Muse, a 26-year-old former Wilmington University runner in the middle of marathon training, used the race for speed work and ran a sizzling 15:33. Dylan Smiley was second in 15:41 followed by Nick Cruz in 16:11. 

Faith Mitchell, 13, was the first female in 20:46. She was followed by Kathryn Stazzone, first masters, in 23:10 and Jackie Quigley in 23:29. 

Tim Miller, 44, was the first male masters finisher in 21:13. 

The next Seashore Striders races are the 26th annual April Fools Moonlight Flashlight Run Sunday, March 1, followed by the eighth annual Lucky Leprechaun 5K Sunday, March 8.
