Susan Gay committed to serving Rehoboth

July 18, 2019

I met Susan Gay shortly after she and her husband purchased their home in Rehoboth Beach.  I watched her as she quickly became immersed in the various committees that keep our city running so smoothly.  She immediately joined the board of the Rehoboth Beach Homeowners’ Association (today she serves as its vice president).  She is also on the boards of the Country Club Estates Property Owners Association and Save our Lakes Alliance 3.

For years, she worked to plant trees around the city, and she is now a member of the Mayor’s Advisory Committee on Trees.  The mayor appointed Susan to the Rehoboth Beach Planning Commission two years ago, and one year later her fellow planning commission members nominated her to be their vice chair.  I watched her diligently discharge her duties in each of these positions.

Susan is intelligent, hard-working, energetic, and analytic.  She digs deeply into the issues in order to better understand them and the effect they will have on the various stakeholders in Rehoboth Beach.  Susan cares deeply about our city, and she works hard to help it remain the kind of town we all have come to enjoy. Susan Gay views issues from multiple perspectives, and she looks to find common ground among all who are affected by a particular issue or action.

She will do what is best for the business community and for the residents because she knows that it is a false dichotomy to separate them. All our interests are intertwined.

Most of all, I am confident that if Susan is elected to be a city commissioner, she will take her duty to the city seriously.  I fully trust her to live up to her responsibilities and to the faith we will have placed in her to do what is right for our beloved town.

Being an elected official will not be an ego trip for Susan nor will she use it to enrich her own interests.  Susan Gay will be a serious, intelligent and hardworking city commissioner who will always seek to do what is right for Rehoboth Beach. Her past record is proof of that.

Susan is committed to serving our community and she has the experience to become an outstanding city commissioner.  I urge you to give her candidacy a serious look and I urge you to please consider voting for her.  Rehoboth Beach needs Susan Gay more than she needs to be on the commission.

Rehoboth Beach needs more leaders who possess the intellectual ability, the work ethic and the commitment Susan Gay has already demonstrated.
