Sussex Academy boys’ tennis defeats Cape 3-2

Cape girls remain undefeated

The Cape boys’ tennis squad dropped to 1-1 on the season with a 3-2 loss to Sussex Academy March 27 at the Villages of Five Points tennis complex.

Sussex Academy’s Michael Anghel defeated Cape’s Quincey Copeland 6-0, 6-0 at first singles. His teammate Pete Vasilikos downed Adam Meacci 6-3, 6-1 at second singles. Cape’s Dylan Kaplan defeated the Seahawks’ Lucca Crinti 6-3, 2-6 (14-12).

Seahawks first doubles team of Michael Daniella and Ryan Miller defeated Cape’s Justin Atkins and Maxwell Merwitz 6-4, 6-7, 6-0. The Vikings picked up a win at second doubles as John Lee and Jackson Curatola downed Ross Moshier and Arpan Patel 7-5, 6-1.

The Lady Vikings moved to 2-0 as they defeated Sussex Academy 4-1 at Cape.

Maryann Tietbohl defeated Andrea Cabrera 6-0, 6-0, Amanda Sponaugle downed Katherine Stevenson 6-2, 6-1 at second singles, and Marcella Sabbagh defeated Cassidy Schell 6-4, 6-1.

Cape’s first doubles team of Anna Harrington and Taylor Smith bested Andrea Cabrera and Noa Aboutboul 6-1, 6-3, while the Seahawks’ second doubles team of Parker Cole and Tess Burke downed Cape’s Marlee Geppert and Samantha Messina 7-5, 8-6.
