Sussex Academy girls’ soccer is young but hopeful

March 14, 2019

What the Seahawks soccer squad lacks in age, head coach Casey Bahr believes they make up for in spunk.

“We are young,” said Bahr.  “But we were younger last year.”

The Seahawks have just two seniors on the 2019 team; the squad went 13-2 in 2018.

“Delaney Smith and Aliyah Patel are our captains,” said Bahr. “These two have been the heart and soul of Sussex Academy girls’ soccer for the past four years, and we are counting on them to lead the underclassmen, providing stability and scoring.”

Bahr has five freshmen and four sophomores trying to break into the starting lineup.

“Despite our youth, we expect to be competitive in our conference,” he said.

Sussex Academy will open its 2019 campaign Friday, March 22, at home with Hodgson Vo-Tech.
