Sussex Academy elementary school held its annual Career Day May 28 in Georgetown as third-, fourth- and fifth-grade students got to learn about some of the unique careers of Sussex Academy parents.
The highlight of Career Day is traditionally the appearance of the Delaware State Police helicopter. The students learn facts about the helicopter from Cpl. 3 Carol Parton and Cpl. 3 Eric Glasco, such as that it cost $12 million, runs on jet fuel, uses the top rotors to go up and the rear rotors to stay straight, and typically flies between 800 to 1,200 feet in the air.
