Sussex Academy students take part in state technology conference

The Sussex Academy Technology Student Association members participated in the Delaware TSA Conference held at the Delaware State Fairgrounds April 25 and 26. In all, 30 Sussex Academy students competed in 16 different science, technology, engineering and math-related events against other high school students from across the state.

The following Sussex Academy students won medals. Kierstin Blatzheim placed first in extemporaneous speech. Grace Scott placed second in essays on technology. Grace Scott and Nick Barrish placed third in debating technical Issues. Nick Barrish placed third in extemporaneous speech. Mary Garcia Barrios, Jezzelle Repalbor, Kale Showers and Alyoa Stakhanova placed third in architectural design. Madison Holt, Ria Kapuria and Isabella Nicol placed second in fashion design.

Sussex Academy is a public charter, tuition-free school centrally located in Georgetown. Serving grades 6-12, the school practices a project-based learning approach, and all grade 11 and 12 students participate in the International Baccalaureate program.
