Sussex County P&Z back in public session

COVID-19 state of emergency forced virtual meetings in past four months
July 10, 2020

Following in the footsteps of Sussex County Council, the county planning and zoning commission is back in public session, starting with a July 9 meeting in the county administration building on The Circle in Georgetown.

For the past four months since the COVID-19 state of emergency was declared, the commission has conducted business in virtual meetings. Under Phase 2 of the reopening plan, governmental bodies are allowed to meet in public if health protocols and social distancing mandates are followed.

Sussex County is among the first in the state to return to public meetings. All meetings of planning and zoning, county council and board of adjustment are also available via teleconference and livestream.

Everyone attending meetings must undergo a health screening, get a temperature check and pass through security to be escorted to a seat. Capacity has been limited to 30, with overflow in the annex and lobby. Everyone entering the county administration building is required to wear a face covering.

The public can listen to meetings and comment by telephone at 800-988-0494 with passcode 1695792 and watch only on livestream at sussexcountyde.gov.
