The Sussex County Optimist Club honored three winners of the Optimist International Essay Contest April 1 at J.D. Shuckers in Georgetown. The 700-800 word oratorical essay’s theme was “Is there a fine line between optimism and reality?” The essay was open to all Sussex County high school students.
The winners received medals, certificates and a check.
The three winners of the oratorical essay contest winners were Milford High School senior Ethan Lang, third-place. Lang intends to attend college at University of Pennsylvania or Dartmouth. Cape Henlopen High School sophomore Sanchez Raymond placed first in the contest. Sussex Tech senior Dalianny Corporan placed second and has plans to attend Delaware Tech.
