Sussex Republican Women honor veterans

December 4, 2019

Sussex County Republican Women are proud to honor our country’s veterans who answered the call to fight for the freedoms enjoyed today.

On Nov. 13,  SCRWC held its luncheon meeting at Mulligan’s Pointe Golf Club in Georgetown. The salute to veterans of all branches of the armed forces was led by 1st Sgt. Philip Webb. He is one of three Army instructors with the ROTC program.   Members of the JROTC entered in formation for the presentation of colors. All attendees stood to recite the Pledge of Allegiance, led by Bryan Ramirez-Montana.

During the business portion of the meeting, changes to the by-laws of SCRWC were adopted along with their new slate of officers for the coming year. Members were also asked to bring to the meeting gift items to be delivered to children of all ages by the Salvation Army during the holiday season. It was a wonderful sight to see the abundance of gifts on display.

They were also reminded of the upcoming Christmas scholarship luncheon to be held at Mulligan’s Pointe golf Club Dec. 11, at 11 a.m.  Proceeds from the silent auction during the event will go to funding the Lillian Martin Scholarships which are awarded in the spring.

It is the mission of the Sussex County Republican Women’s Club to assist in the election of Republican candidates, act as an advocate for the Republican Party’s principles, and empower women to participate in the political process. SCRWC, the largest Republican Women’s Club in Delaware, has been actively engaging women in the political process for more than six decades.
