Sussex Tech school district seeks members for advisory committees

Apply before Sept. 10
August 24, 2018

At its Aug. 13 public meeting, the Sussex Technical School District Board of Education and the superintendent reviewed new board policy to form three advisory committees. These include the re-formation of the Budget Oversight Committee, and new Teachers Advisory Committee and Citizens Advisory Committee.

Accordingly, the district is seeking community members for each committee. Selection of new committee members will be completed by Monday, Sept. 10.

Budget Oversight Committee members will represent parents, educators and taxpayers residing in the district. Members should have no conflicts of interest arise by serving on the committee. Conflicts of interest are defined in Delaware Code, Title 29, Section 5805. Members agree to attend training developed by the Department of Education within three months of appointment.

The Citizens Advisory Committee will consider matters pertinent to public education, and present concerns and recommendations in accordance with its charge from the board. Membership will comprise three parents, three citizens of Sussex County, three staff members and three members of the business community. The Student Government Association may designate a person to serve as a member.

Individuals interested in being considered for membership on either committee are asked to submit an application and letter of interest to Sussex Technical School District, PO Box 351, Georgetown, DE 19947.
