Taste of Sposato Wine 5K won by Martin Rodriguez in 18:11

Horses race and whinny, but they don’t whine. Humans race then drink wine - sometimes - like at the finish of the Taste of Sposato Wine 5K Oct. 1 in Overbrook.

There were 187 finishers in the race, and the proceeds went to a Delaware Tech student majoring in landscape architecture.

Martin Rodriguez topped the leaderboard in 18:11 followed by Bryan Mack in 18:43, Jon Zubrowski in 20:09, Andy Gorlich in 20:25 and Nick Wiensnewski in 20:33.

Meryl Ludwig was the first woman to finish, in 21:57. She was chased by Jennifer Lee in 22:44, Sarah Potochney in 23:02, Jackie Quigley in 23:11 and Melissa Clampitt in 23:59.

Twelve-year-olds Brexton Carter (20:55) and Eddie Houck (21:47) placed sixth and ninth overall and will only get faster.

Some notable local times for males by age group were Dan Obrien, 65, in 23:48; Jeff Stouch, 58, in 21:36; Joydeep Haldar, 49, in 21:20; Chris Mattioni, 45, in 23:32; Will Reid, 39, in 25:57; Noah Garrison, 17, in 22:52; Spencer Warren, 13, in 23:18; and Liam Garrison, 13, in 25:13.  

Women’s fast times by age include Tatum Friend, 12, in 31:58; Megan Eddinger, 31, in 25:18;  Francine Schott, 49, in 25:35; Deidra Anderson, 49, in 26:01; Jaime Carter-Houck, 40, in 26:36; Karen Dawson, 56, in 26:30; Ann Jornlin, 64, in 27:34; Teri Moore, 62, in 31:48; and Joann Szczepkowski, 71, in 26:56.
