A 14-year-old boy faces arson, burglary and other charges May 13 after fire officials say he set fire to a maintenance and storage structure belonging to the Woodbridge School District.
The Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal began investigating April 30 after a fire caused $80,000 in damage to structures on the grounds of Phillis Wheatley Elementary School. The investigation revealed that the fire was intentionally started, said John Galaska, chief deputy assistant fire marshal.
The boy was charged with second-degree arson, third-degree burglary, second-degree criminal trespassing and criminal mischief. He was arraigned and released to a parent pending a Family Court bond hearing. The investigation is still considered active and ongoing at this time.
