Thanks to Sussex council on 7-Eleven vote

January 9, 2020

Challenge is what contributes to how we grow as a person and a community.

Thank you to all the members of Sussex County Council for what you do to protect and contribute to the enhancement of the eastern shore of Sussex County.  Obviously that is not an easy task with more and more increase in building and population in this relatively small area.

Your vote of 4-1 to deny the proposed building of a 7-Eleven fuel station and convenience store at the intersection of Route 24 and Angola Road was proof that you have the people of this area’s safety, protection of drinking water and the environment in mind.

Thank you to Sen. Ernie Lopez and other government officials and agencies that contributed to the success of this vote.

All of this positive outcome could not have happened without the diligent effort of Jens and Eul Wegscheider of Bay Ridge Woods, and the many friends and neighbors in the Angola area who never gave up working and believing we could all help to make a difference in this community.  This is a great example that challenge is how we grow as a person and how we grow as a community.

I personally wish the best to 7-Eleven developer Kirk Salvo. He certainly has the right to the opportunity to succeed in business. I only fear the possible negative outcome of a fuel station on that particular piece of property with traffic and proximity to the Angola drinking water source.

Many of us can visualize other, less hazardous opportunities on that corner.
