Three hundred run from post to pancakes at Buddy 5K

Dewey Lions serve breakfast after the race

The seventh annual Buddy 5K Aug. 12 in Dewey Beach started by the playground on McKinley Avenue and ended on the same street, a short walk to the Lions Club for a pancake breakfast.

Three hundred runners and a bunch of one-mile walkers completed the course.

Brendan Balthis, 17, a Tatnall cross country runner, was the overall winner in 16:21.

Abby Jankowski, 22, from Orchard Park, N.Y., was the overall women’s winner in 22:28.

Jon Floyd, 46, from Westbury Center, Vt., won the male masters in 19:26, while Mindy Hidenfelter, 46, from Wake Forest, N.C., won the women’s masters in 22:52.

The top six runners broke 20 minutes, including Balthis in 16:21, Blake Hundley in 17:12, Matt Dennish in 18:11, Jerry Tylutki in 18:17, John Floyd in 19:25 and Patrick Beebe in 19:55.

Myranda Beebe, 14, won the 14-19 female age group in 23:55.
