Tickets going fast for Dewey Beach Winter Gala Feb. 23

February 10, 2019

Dewey Beach is a small but mighty coastal town that thrives on its unique community-centered vibe. Each year, the Dewey Beach Winter Gala, initiated by the Dewey Business Partnership, is a highly anticipated event where locals turns out to raise funds for the town and its public safety services. This year, the gala will take place at 8 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 23, hosted by The Starboard, a restaurant that is synonymous with Dewey and its one-of-a-kind culture.

For Steve “Monty” Montgomery, owner of the Starboard and newly-minted chairman of the Dewey Beach-Rehoboth Beach Chamber of Commerce, the gala is one of his favorite nights in Dewey. “I’ve been involved with this event from the beginning, and it’s one of the best nights of the year. It brings everyone from Dewey together and we raise money that goes right back into our community. But also, it’s a night where you can show up and directly thank our town officials, like our lifeguards and police officers, for all the hard work they put in.”

The Dewey Business Partnership has been instrumental in helping the town to cultivate a sense of well-roundedness in recent years. While Dewey has always had a fabulous nightlife and party scene, the partnership has worked to tailor programs that fit the family lifestyle, hosting festivals and events all year long, which in turn, has pushed growth for businesses. “The culinary scene is coming up to match the vibrant nightlife that Dewey is famous for,” said Montgomery, citing the first-ever Dewey Beach Restaurant Week from last summer.

The winter gala is the perfect event to get fancy and enjoy an evening of creative formal wear, high heels, coats and ties. This year’s theme is Havana Nights and will have a decidedly Cuban flare. The decadent evening will feature 10 bars, three bands, DJs and a veritable showcase of food from the Dewey Business Partnership restaurants. This is an event that only a town like Dewey Beach and its businesses could host. Under the big white tent at the Starboard, attendees will enjoy the intimate vibe of Dewey Beach culture at its finest.

The event is expected to sell out and 600 tickets have already been sold. Purchasing will close at 1,000 tickets. Tickets are $90 per person. To purchase tickets to support the biggest little beach town on the Delaware Coast, go to www.deweywintergala.com.
