Lewes farmers market postpones Farmraiser in the Barn

Dinner and dance to benefit Historic Lewes Farmers Market
February 13, 2020

Editor’s note: Due to the Coronavirus State of Emergency in Delaware, the Historic Lewes Farmers Market announced it will postpone its Farmraiser fundraising event originally scheduled for Saturday, March 28. The event will be rescheduled to a date in late summer. At this time, ticket holders will receive a refund. When the date is rescheduled, the market will sell tickets for the new date.

This fundraising event brings in more than 30 percent of the revenue needed each year to run the market. Organizers hope the community will continue to support the market, and attend the Farmraiser when it is rescheduled.

Tickets are now on sale for the Historic Lewes Farmers Market Farmraiser in the Barn event, to be held Saturday, March 28, at Covered Bridge Inn in Lewes.

Prepared by Executive Chef Sean Corea of Fork + Flask at Nage, dinner will be served family style, along with select wines and craft beers. A live auction will feature experiences up for bid. Patrons can dance the night away to music by local band 33 1/3.

Funds from the 2020 Farmraiser help the nonprofit Historic Lewes Farmers Market operate so that its 35 local farmers and producers can grow, support their families, and build the local food movement on Delmarva. The funds also help support and expand the market’s educational and charitable programs including: scholarships to farmers to attend sustainable conferences, demonstrations every Saturday during the regular season, and providing matching bonus bucks for customers using coupons from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program; Women, Infants, and Children Nutrition Program; and Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program.

Opening date for the 15th season of the Historic Lewes Farmers Market is Saturday, May 2.

Sponsorships are still available for this event. For more information, to sponsor or to purchase tickets, call 302-644-1436 or go to www.historiclewesfarmersmarket.org.
