Tidewater Utilities donates to Connecting Generations

December 9, 2018

Tidewater Utilities Inc., a water and wastewater service provider headquartered in Dover, and a wholly owned subsidiary of Middlesex Water Company, recently presented a check for $25,282 to Connecting Generations. The donation reflects proceeds raised from Tidewater’s 11th Annual Charity Golf Outing, held Aug. 13 at the Heritage Shores Golf Course in Bridgeville.

“We’re excited that our 11th Annual Charity Tournament will help support Connecting Generations’ work in providing mentors and support to children here in Delaware from kindergarten to 12th grade,” said Jerry Esposito, Tidewater Utilities Inc. president.

"What a great day for kids in Delaware!” said Brian Gaerity, executive director of Connecting Generations. "On behalf of the 1,400 Delaware students who benefit from Connecting Generations’ school-based mentoring program, we couldn’t be more thrilled by the support from golfers and sponsors of Tidewater’s Charity Golf Outing. Tidewater did an outstanding job of organizing and hosting the event, ensuring that all golfers had a memorable and enjoyable experience. The golfers were generous both on and off the course. And the staff at Heritage Shores were gracious and professional.”

Jen Marek, Connecting Generations program director, said, "The money raised from the tournament will go to our mentoring programs in Delaware, ensuring that more kids can develop and grow through a positive relationship with a mentor.”

Tidewater is accepting applications from local nonprofit organizations seeking to be beneficiaries of its 2019 Charity Golf Outing. Nonprofits interested in being considered can find applications at www.tuiwater.com. The selection process includes application review and interview of finalist candidates. The selected beneficiary will be announced in February.

Tidewater has raised more than $150,000 during the past decade through its annual charity golf tournament which attracts local businesses, individuals and organization supporters.
