Titanic Pizzeria opens in Milton

February 20, 2020

Titanic Pizzeria has docked in Milton’s Paynter’s Mill, the second restaurant to open in the residential development since December.

Founded by Murat Cakmak and Ismail Arisoy, Titanic Pizzeria serves up classic Italian pizza, stromboli and pasta dishes combined with American favorites such as wings, hot and cold subs, cheesesteaks, salads and wraps.

Cakmak and Arisoy, natives of Turkey, said the name came during a brainstorming session.

“We started writing names on paper and Titanic came up,” Arisoy. “I liked it. It was catchy. It doesn’t mean anything, we just liked the sound.”

The duo have leaned into the connection to the infamous ocean liner; the logo on the company website is a cruise ship.

The restaurant opened up in early February and has 65 seats including the bar. Arisoy said Titanic Pizza also has online ordering and delivery within 10 miles. Cakmak said they liked the Paynter’s Mill location for its access to Route 1 and position between Milton and Lewes. The two have been in the restaurant business at different places throughout Delaware the past 25 years and felt ready to strike out on their own.

“Why not?” said Cakmak.

“We were always talking about it,” Arisoy added.

The pair have been happy with the reception so far, and are already thinking about opening a second location, either in Dover or within Sussex County.

Titanic Pizzeria is open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and can be found at www.titanicpizzeria.com and by phone at 302-664-2633.
