Toast to the Heroes at Revelation Beer Garden Sept. 10

September 2, 2020

The Lewes-Rehoboth Rotary Club will sponsor Toast to the Heroes, a happy hour event to celebrate heroes in the community, from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 10.

Special guests include author Joanne Guilfoil, who will be there to sign “Afterglow: Ted Freeman’s Legacy,” her book about the late NASA astronaut from Lewes. Joe Hudson, Freeman’s best friend and fellow pioneer fish-spotter, will also be on hand to sign books. Copies will be available for purchase at $20 each, with proceeds from book sales going toward scholarships for students at Delaware Tech’s Freeman Powerplant Education Building in Georgetown. “Afterglow” is all about Freeman as a pilot and the school now in his name.

There is no cost to attend, and Revelation beer, Sposato Wine and food from a Coastline Kitchen food truck will be available for purchase.

Rotary members will be on hand to discuss their Flags For Heroes display that will run on Veterans Day, Monday, Nov. 11. Attendees may purchase flags at the event or go to www.FlagsForHeroes-LRRC.com.

CDC guidelines for face coverings and social distancing will be followed.
