A 23-year-old Lewes woman died in a serious crash about 12:05 p.m., Aug. 10, on Route 1 northbound, near Key Box Road, south of Dewey Beach. Police say the woman was driving a 2013 Nissan Rogue northbound on Route 1, approaching slow-moving traffic, when for unknown reasons she failed to notice the vehicles in front of her had come to a stop. The Rogue struck the rear of a 2015 Honda CRV, which then struck the rear of a 2013 Ford Escape, which was pushed into a 2016 Subaru Forester. All of the vehicles were struck in the left lane, where they came to rest.

Police have identified the driver of the Rogue as Logan B. Anderson of Lewes, who, police say, was not restrained. She was taken to Beebe Healthcare, where she was pronounced dead.

Police said the operator of the Honda, 52, of Millville, who was properly restrained, was being treated at Beebe Healthcare. The driver of the Escape, 44 of Ocean View, who was also properly restrained, was treated for minor injuries at Beebe Healthcare and released.

The driver of the Subaru, 50, of Greenbelt, Md., refused treatment at the scene, as did two adult passengers. Police said all were properly restrained.
