Vaccinations are key to ending pandemic

January 7, 2022

In a recent column, Dennis Forney rightly bemoans the fact that an increasing number of his acquaintances have tested positive for coronavirus. He then goes on to out his trust in herd immunity to bring the pandemic to an end. Unfortunately, no one really knows if and when we will reach herd immunity. What is known is that vaccinations protect people from the worst effects of any COVID strain, reduce hospitalizations, and limit the spread of the virus. Rather than wishfully hoping for herd immunity, we need to redouble our efforts to get as many people as possible fully vaccinated.
