Veronica May ‘Ronnie’ Maurer, enjoyed her family

September 20, 2021

Veronica May “Ronnie” Maurer, 83, of Long Neck, formerly of Long Island, N.Y., passed away Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2021, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes.  She was born May 18, 1938, in Brooklyn, N.Y., daughter of the late David and Mary McMillan.

Ronnie loved beginning each day with a cup of coffee and a word search puzzle.  She enjoyed watching crime dramas and murder mysteries, and playing computer solitaire.  Ronnie’s greatest joy, however, was spending time with those she held dear, particularly her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Ronnie was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.  She was loved by many, and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Ronnie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Anthony Maurer; and her siblings: Elizabeth, Joseph, Edward, Anne, Robert and Albert.  She is survived by her children:  Mary McKiel of Delaware, Katherine Dinkel (Ronald) of New York, Christopher Maurer of Florida, Joseph Maurer of Florida, Francis Maurer (Lisa) of New York, and Daniel Maurer (Homa) of New York; her grandchildren:  Holly, Heather, Ryan, Thomas, Stacey, Krista, Michelle, Christopher, Anthony, Valerie, David, Jacob and Daniel; her six great-grandchildren; and her brother, George McMillan.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 25, at 3 p.m., at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may visit beginning at 2 p.m.  Interment will be private.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, masks are required, and social distancing must be observed by all persons participating or attending any aspect of the services.
