Volunteer mentors celebrated at Rehoboth Elementary

July 15, 2018

Rehoboth Elementary School hosted a celebration breakfast in appreciation of the volunteer mentors who help students throughout the school year.

The mentoring program began around 12 years ago and continues to grow with valuable mentors who provide one-on-one help for students in both math and language arts. Students and mentors meet once a week throughout the year to go over lessons designed by reading and math specialists at the school.

During the event, approximately 35-40 mentors were in attendance, along with 32 students and district administrative staff. Dr. Thomas Kelley of Shore Community Medical LLC partnered with the mentoring program this year and contributed room supplies and baking supplies for the breakfast. He also donated a book for each student in attendance to take home.

The Rehoboth Elementary Parent Teacher Organization provided gift bags for each mentor, and Susan Krause donated her baking skills to make delicious treats to serve.
