Dear Voters,
Did you know that Delaware has closed primaries? That means that only registered voters from participating parties may vote. So, that means that if you are registered as anything other than a Democrat, you are among the 4,700 here in Representative District 14 who will not be able to vote in the April 28 Democratic Presidential Primary.
Switching your affiliation will not affect your ability to vote for any party candidate in the General Election in November 2020 because the General Election is an open election. And, you can always switch back to “Unaffiliated” after the 2020 General Election.
The 14th District Democratic Committee encourages everyone to register as a Democrat. Why register as a Democrat? So you can vote for candidates who support local issues:
• Reducing overdevelopment
• Improving traffic flow
• Ensuring affordable healthcare including treatment for addictions
• Protecting civil rights
• Preserving Social Security and Medicare
Feb. 28 is the deadline for changing your registration to be able to vote in the April 28 Democratic Presidential Primary. Anyone who is not registered at all has until April 4 to register for voting in the April 28 Democratic Presidential Primary.
How do you change your registration?
Go online at ivote.de.gov. Just click on How do I register to vote or update my registration (address, party affiliation, name, etc.) and fill out the information online.
Go online at ivote.de.gov. Click on voter services, go to voter registration by mail and download the registration form.
Fill out the voter registration form and mail or hand deliver it to: Sussex County Department of Elections, 119 North Race St., P.O. Box 457, Georgetown, DE 19947.
Please let other “unaffiliated” voters you may know about this issue so they can also register as a Democrat.
