Warren Charles Lamont Jr., 79, known to many as Monty, passed away peacefully Monday, June 22, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.  

Born in Plainfield, N.J., to Warren Charles Lamont Sr. and Adeline Lamont, Warren lived a life defined by service, leadership, adventure and unwavering devotion to family.

A graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy, where he played soccer, Warren proudly served his country for 28 years in the U.S. Air Force, including service in Vietnam. He retired as a full colonel after a distinguished career that included overseas assignments, service with allied forces through NATO and work as a liaison between the U.S. and Great Britain. Known in military circles as his callsign "Shadow," he carried the values of integrity, quiet discipline, and servant leadership throughout his life.

After retiring from the U.S. Air Force, Warren spent 25 years in leadership positions at science and technology companies. His second chapter also involved fulfilling a lifelong dream of becoming a proud sailboat captain. He named his beloved sailboat, Deuxième Souffle—French for "Second Wind." True to form, the name was thoughtful, intentional, and just a little tongue-in-cheek. He loved time on the water, especially sailing with family and friends and sharing stories, laughter, and Painkillers in the British Virgin Islands.

Warren earned master's degrees in business administration and executive leadership. A seeker of facts over fiction, his days often began with reading two national newspapers and looking forward to engaging in conversations about politics and current events, especially with his grandsons. Grandpa Monty/Papa loved movies, going out to brunch, classic British automobiles and humor, and could often be heard saying, "We have the technology." His family knows well that he also had the technique.

In addition to his parents, Warren was preceded in death by his brothers, Wesley Lamont and Wayne Lamont.

He is survived by his loving wife, Karla Lamont; his daughters, Kelly Lamont Francfort and her husband Guy Francfort, and Meredith Lamont Ayala and her husband Juan Carlos Ayala; his cherished grandsons, Aidan, Tyler and Wesley; his sister, Wendy Lamont Woolbright; his nieces, Katy, Jessielyn and Christine; and many extended family members, friends, neighbors and fellow servicemembers.

Warren's legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched through his service, leadership, generosity and love. Those who knew him best will remember a man who never asked others to do what he would not do himself. He showed up – for his family, his friends, his community and his country.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, June 28, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Hwy., Lewes. Family and friends may visit from 2 to 3 p.m.
