Wayne Paul Toomey, retired poultry worker

Wayne Paul Toomey, 70, of Laurel passed away in the care of Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford Wednesday, July 11, 2018. He was born in Lewes March 18, 1948, to the late Oliver and Esther Short Toomey.

Wayne was a retired poultry worker. He loved to go fishing and spending time with his grandkids. He also loved hunting deer and rabbits, and just to go hunting for just about anything. He enjoyed going for rides in the car. Most of all, he liked to spend time with his family. Wayne also loved his dog Roscoe very much, and enjoyed talking to him while he perched on his knee.

Wayne is survived by his two children: Timothy Toomey, of Delmar and Melody A. Pettyjohn and her husband John of Laurel. He has two sisters: Erma Clark and husband Levin of Selbyville, and Bonnie Rogers and husband Asher of Selbyville; and two brothers: Charles Toomey of Delmar and Harvey "Joe-Pop" Toomey of Laurel.

Also surviving are grandchildren: Josh Pettyjohn and his wife Shauna, Jason Pettyjohn and his wife Danielle, and Hunter Toomey. Wayne's great-grandchildren are: Gannon Pettyjohn, Ja'Von Snead and Jorden Snead.

A funeral service and Celebration of His Life will be held Monday, July 16, at Watson Funeral Home in Millsboro at 1 p.m. Friends may call for viewing and visitation one hour prior. Interment follows in Carey's Cemetery, also in Millsboro. Pastors Barry Townsend and Mark Phillips will officiate.
