Beebe Healthcare’s Tunnell Cancer Center invites community members to join Not Just for Men: Dinner with the Docs from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, Sept. 21, at the Frankford firehouse.

Men are encouraged to bring their significant others to this free event, as all will learn how to make lasting changes for a healthier and happier life. Attendees will have the opportunity to talk with Beebe physicians about men’s health, cancer prevention and heart health.

Doors open at 5 p.m. for mix and mingle, health screenings and flu shots. Vendors will provide information on various resources to support many aspects of men’s wellness. A pharmacist, diabetes educator and fitness representative will be present to discuss concerns and answer questions. The dinner and the speaker portion will begin at 6 p.m.

Three speakers will be featured.

Beebe Healthcare’s Chef Miguel Cuevas will share his personal experience and healthy eating tips. He will relate how a life-altering cardiac event led him to make health lifestyle changes and join Beebe as the Ornish Lifestyle Medicine chef.

Kenneth Sunnergren, MD, board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease, Cardiovascular Consultants of Southern Delaware, will discuss men’s health and cardiovascular disease prevention.

Owen Thomas, MD, board certified in radiation oncology, Tunnell Cancer Center, will discuss men’s health and cancer prevention.

“This event focused on men’s health is a wonderful opportunity to come together and talk about impactful changes you can make today for your overall wellness, if not for yourself but for your loved ones. I know from my personal experience, there is life after heart surgery,” said Cuevas.

Food, drawings and entertainment will be offered with a grand prize raffle for a weekend stay at Atlantic Sands Hotel in Rehoboth Beach.

Seating is limited. To register, go to www.NotJustForMen2018.eventbrite.com.
