Wescoat Scholarship Fund seeks applications by April 16

March 3, 2019

Members of the Cape Henlopen High School graduating class of 2019 and former graduates who wish to be considered for financial aid from the Wescoat Scholarship Fund are invited to secure application forms from the Cape Henlopen High School Guidance Office.

Completed applications should be mailed to Wescoat Memorial Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 464, Lewes, DE 19958. This year's deadline for filing applications is 12 p.m., Tuesday, April 16.

The will of the late Louise Wescoat l'Hommedieu of Lewes states that the committee to administer the fund will comprise the rector of St. Peter's Episcopal Church of Lewes, the superintendent of schools of the local district, and the mayor of Lewes. This will be the 43rd year the fund will benefit college-bound students from Cape Henlopen School District.

The awards are available to worthy and needy high school graduates, but not necessarily those who have attained the highest scholastic ratings. Students who plan to attend accredited colleges or universities in the United States may benefit.

To date, it has been possible for the committee to provide 243 scholarships, each in the amount of at least $200. The number and amount of the scholarships are dependent upon the cash balance in the fund.
