Why Bucchioni is the right candidate

September 9, 2022

In 2018, a fellow Cape High alum and University of Delaware student told me about a campaign he was working on in Representative District 20, our hometown district. He encouraged me to connect with the candidate to learn more. That candidate was Jack Bucchioni. After one conversation with Jack, I was committed to the progressive, thoughtful and fresh ideas he offered. When Jack decided to run for Senate District 6, I joined his campaign staff without hesitation.

If you know Jack, you know he cares deeply about the community. He is an advocate for all residents of the coastal area and works with various community organizations, including groups that focus on LGBTQIA+ rights, women’s rights and environmental issues. Jack has been involved in advocacy since before his career in politics, continually showing up to push for change. If elected, Jack will use the relationships he’s fostered with community leaders and advocates to listen to and deliver for our community.

Jack believes that diversity is the key to a better, more understanding world. His campaign staff includes individuals of varying races, gender identities, sexual orientations and generations. He consults with people of different identities when considering policy positions, acknowledging that different people may be affected by policies in different ways. If elected, Jack will bring his commitment to diversity and inclusion into his role as senator, allowing no voice to be left out of the conversation.

Lastly, Jack recognizes the most pressing issues in Senate District 6. He understands that we must turn overdevelopment into smart development. He knows that our physical location on the coast makes us especially vulnerable to environmental threats, requiring quick and decisive action to protect the land we cherish. Jack believes that the workers of our local schools, hospitals, medical centers, restaurants and shops all deserve wages that will allow them to continue to live in our community. He recognizes that we must do more to help individuals who are experiencing homelessness and those priced out of home ownership. Jack continues to find effective, sustainable and equitable solutions to the issues we face.

I know with confidence that Jack is the right person to lead Senate District 6 into the future. I support Jack, and I encourage you to as well.
