Wild & Scenic Film Festival at art theater Nov. 19, 24

November 5, 2019

For the second year, Assateague Coastal Trust will host the internationally acclaimed Wild & Scenic Film Festival at the Cinema Art Theater in Lewes at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 19, and 1 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 24. Theater doors open 30 minutes prior to screening times.

The festival focuses on films which both celebrate the splendor of the planet and speak to environmental concerns the Earth faces. Through film, it inspires environmental activism and a love for nature. Wild & Scenic shares an urgent call to action, encouraging festival-goers to learn more about what they can do to save the threatened planet.

ACT’s festival screening is presented by Seacrets Jamaica USA and locally sponsored by Dogfish Head Brewery and Cinema Art Theater. The event will bring 17 environmentally inspired films to the big screen, ranging from 3 minutes to 28 minutes in length, each with its own unique message, creativity and outstanding cinematography.

ACT’s Assateague Coastkeeper Kathy Phillips said, “Many of the films in this year’s festival speak to the importance of community engagement in the face of challenging environmental issues. It takes a movement of people to make change, not just one spokesperson. These films will inspire citizens to make changes in their daily habits, join local efforts to change policies, and generally engage in saving our water and natural resources from pollution, corporate privatization, or government abandonment so that future generations will thrive.”
