Wild & Scenic Film Festival coming to Lewes Nov. 27

November 17, 2018

A new event is coming to Delaware in November. Assateague Coastal Trust will host the internationally recognized Wild & Scenic Film Festival from 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 27, at the Cinema Art Theater in Lewes. ACT and Dogfish Head Craft Brewery will bring 14 Wild & Scenic Films to the community.

The festival features a collection of adventure and action sport documentaries and environmental films that are showcased in Nevada City, Calif., each year. Now in its 16th year, the Wild & Scenic Film Festival focuses on films which both celebrate the splendor of the planet and speak to environmental concerns the Earth faces.

“Films featured at Wild & Scenic give people a sense of place, and ACT is thrilled to bring WSFF to Delaware thanks to our partners Dogfish Head Brewery and Cinema Art Theater,” said Kathy Phillips, Assateague Coastkeeper with Assateague Coastal Trust. “When we realize that the change we need in this world begins with us, we start making a difference. Spend this evening with your friends and get inspired!”

Billy Weiland, ACT communications director, said, “These films should complement the many other efforts out there today that are dedicated to getting the human race back on the right track. A sustainable with and for nature path. They should reside as encouragement for us all to be the change.”

Snacks and beer specials courtesy of Dogfish Head will complement the evening of films. There will also be a silent auction featuring two large Dogfish Head gift baskets.

Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Attendees will receive one free Dogfish Head brew with ticket stub.

For more information or to purchase tickets, go to www.actforbays.org/act-events or call 410-629-1538. Proceeds will support the efforts of Assateague Coastal Trust to prevent oil and gas development, and seismic blasting leases from taking place off the coast of Delmarva.
