William Elliott Edwards, active Mason

William Elliott Edwards, 84, of Milton passed away Sunday, April 11, 2021, at his home. He was born Oct. 16, 1936, in Washington, D.C., son of the late Elliott and Viola (Brann) Edwards.

In 1954 Bill graduated from Coolidge High School in Washington, D.C., where he played football.  After graduation, he began working at the Washington Gas Light Company where he was employed for 40 years. On June 9, 1956, he married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Jean Donohue. They lived 39 years in Adelphi, Md., where they raised three daughters.

Bill was actively involved with masonic organizations in Maryland and Delaware. He bowled, played softball and snow skied. Bill liked to travel and with Barbara, visited all 50 states, Canada, Spain, France, Bermuda, Australia and New Zealand. Above all, Bill loved spending time with those he held most dear. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Bill is survived by his beloved  wife, Barbara (Donohue) Edwards;  his three daughters: Janet Hans and her husband John, Jane Edwards, and Joan Manchon and her husband Eric; his grandchildren: Samantha Spellicy, Rachel (Hans) Perlak and her husband Andrew, Alexandra Spellicy, Michelle (Hans) Pestik and her husband Benjamin, Christopher Manchon, Matthew Manchon and Natalie Manchon; his siblings: James Edwards, Louise Layne and her husband Charlie, Joyce Bartz, and Doris Clark; and his great-grandson, Hunter Perlak.

A viewing will be held Friday, April 16, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where a Masonic and Eastern Star Service will be held beginning at 7 p.m.  Livestream of the services may also be viewed by going to http://www.parsellfuneralhomes.com/obituaries/permalink/9927426/LTWebcast

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, social distancing protocols must be observed and masks must be worn by everyone participating in any aspect of the services.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, April 17, at 1 p.m., at Fort Lincoln Cemetery, 3401 Bladensburg Road, Brentwood, Md .
