William King Lee, decorated firefighter

William King Lee, 84, of Lewes  passed away peacefully Thursday, Nov. 15, 2018, at home surrounded by his loving family.

Bill was born in Bluff City, Tenn., the son of the late Robert Leonard and Frances (Boling) Lee. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Air Force. Bill began his career as a firefighter with Baltimore City Fire Department and would serve the department as an engineer on the largest fireboat in the city’s fleet for many years. After an on-duty injury required Bill to retire on disability from the department, he established Lee Construction Company, serving the Baltimore, Md. area for many years before retiring. Bill was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Sussex Pines Country Club in Georgetown and the Oak Orchard American Legion Post  28. He loved playing golf and enjoyed playing on the church softball team with his two sons. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brother Robert Lee.
 
He is survived by his wife of 65 years Dorothy (Evans) Lee; two sons Denis Lee and his wife Barbara, and Bill Lee and his wife Carol; five grandchildren Daniel, Andrew, Meghan, Kris and Kate; seven great-grandchildren Carter, Xan, Avery, Alanna, Kendall, Milo and Ramona; one brother Douglas Waddell and one sister Vicki Hargrove.
 
Services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to the Lewes Fire Department, P.O. Box 225, Lewes, DE  19958.
