Wine Spectator awards SoDel Concepts restaurants for excellence

Four SoDel Concepts restaurants have received the 2018 Wine Spectator Award of Excellence. They are Bluecoast Seafood Grill + Raw Bar and Lupo Italian Kitchen, both in Rehoboth Beach; Bluecoast Seafood Grill + Raw Bar in Bethany Beach; and Catch 54 in Fenwick Island.

"As a company, we strive to make our restaurants better in every way, from the service to the cuisine to the wine," said Scott Kammerer, president of SoDel Concepts. "Receiving four Wine Spectator Award of Excellence recognitions is a testament to our teams' hard work."

Kammerer gave credit to Mike Zygmonski, a certified sommelier, who's been the wine director for all 10 SoDel Concepts restaurants since 2014. Zygmonski, a Lewes native, spent three years working in New York restaurants, including Eataly.

"It's our mission to make our wine program one of the finest in the region," Kammerer said. "Not only do we have high-quality wines and a great variety, but we also have a vibrant wine education program for our staff."

The Award of Excellence is given to restaurants with a well-chosen assortment of quality producers and a thematic match to the menu in price and style.

Lupo Italian Kitchen, for instance, has an all-Italian list with up to 100 selections. Lupo was one of only six Delaware restaurants that received the Wine Spectator Award in 2017.
