Wings & Wheels 2018 lands in Georgetown Oct. 5

Wings & Wheels 2018 kicks off this Friday, Oct. 5, with Pathways to Aviation Day, where nearly 100 high school students will spend the day at the Delaware Coastal Airport learning from aviation experts, including NASA Shuttle Commander Joe Edwards and C-17 pilot Capt. Hannah Wisniewski. Friday evening, Kathie Martin & The Hot Rods will take the stage for the Fabulous ‘50s Greaser’s Ball, where nearly 150 guests will enjoy dinner, dancing, hula-hoop contests and more!

Saturday’s free event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., beginning with an Opening Ceremony, including the national anthem and Presentation of Colors by the Sussex Central ROTC Color Guard. Events at the airport throughout the day include a vintage aircraft fly-in, car show (with nearly 300 cars expected), featured speakers, kids’ activities, live entertainment by Glass Onion, and craft and food vendors. Festival attendees will also be able to see the sights from above by purchasing a ticket for a helicopter or vintage plane ride.

Fan favorites back for 2018 including the Flour Bombing Competition at 2 p.m., as well as the Official Naval Academy Parachute Team.
