Winter WonderFest Santa grants Christmas wish early

December 23, 2020

For all of those who question if Santa is real, Mary Field of Lewes sent some proof that the real Santa resides in Sussex County, at Winter WonderFest.

When Field’s daughter, her husband and their 2-year-old son were visiting, they decided to drive through Winter WonderFest 2020 to celebrate the most magical time of the year.

She said everyone enjoyed the drive, all the lights and displays, and were delighted to see all the local businesses that contributed to such a wonderful cause – despite what had to be a very challenging year. Close to the end of the tour, she said they were surprised to see the best display of all, Santa and Mrs. Claus greeting every car.

“When it was our turn, Santa told us we could ask for one wish. Our darling little grandson Brooks asked for a brother or sister for Christmas,” said Field. Since her daughter was pregnant and due Dec. 21, all were fairly sure Brooks’ wish would come true – just not as soon as it happened.

“Early the next morning we were all sent into motion when it was clear the baby was ready to meet his family. Pierce Patrick Buird was born on Nov. 28, 2020, at 11:05 a.m. He arrived weighing 6 lbs., 15 oz. and 19 inches long,” said Field. “Needless to say, we are all in love with this little boy, and his big brother is totally convinced Santa made it all happen. We believe he may just be right.”
