March 16, 2022

A Maryland woman died March 15 following a two-car crash on Route 24 west of Millsboro.

The crash happened at 11:21 p.m. in the area of Revel Road as a 2004 Ford Explorer operated by a 26-year-old Millsboro woman was traveling eastbound on Route 24 just west of Revel Road and a 2006 Honda CRV operated by a 53-year-old Micheline Victor of Salisbury, Md. was traveling westbound on Route 24 in the same area, said Sr. Cpl. Jason Hatchell of the Delaware State Police. While the Ford was traveling eastbound, Hatchell said, its right side struck a deer within the lane of travel and the vehicle continued eastbound, but for unknown reasons crossed over the center line. The front of the Ford then struck the front of the Honda in the westbound lane of travel, Hatchell said. After impact, he said, the Ford rotated about 180 degrees before coming to rest in the eastbound lane of travel. The Honda was redirected off the north edge of the roadway where it came to rest in an open field.

The 26-year-old driver was not restrained and was transported to Beebe Healthcare with minor injuries. Victor was properly restrained, but was pronounced deceased at the scene of the collision.

The roadway was closed for about four hours while the investigation was completed, and the roadway was cleared.

This collision remains under investigation by the Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit. Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has any information is asked to contact Cpl/1 Smith at 302-703-3267. Information may also be provided to Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333 or delawarecrimestoppers.com.
