Woman robbed in Lewes Weis parking lot

Police are investigating after a woman was robbed at 5:45 p.m., Feb. 11, in the Weis Market parking lot in Lewes.

The woman, 23, had pulled into a parking spot in the middle section of the lot at 17232 N. Village Main Boulevard when a man approached her from behind, said Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe of the Delaware State Police.

The man grabbed her pocket where her money was located, and the two struggled, Jaffe said. The man then struck the woman with his arm, and took an undisclosed amount of cash out of her pocket before fleeing in an unknown direction, Jaffe said. The woman was not injured.

The man is described as white, age 16-19, between 5-feet-7-inches and 5-feet-9-inches tall, wearing a blue or black jacket and a beanie cap.
