Women’s Club of Milton to fund theater camp scholarships

January 18, 2020

The Women’s Club of Milton has embarked on an exciting art initiative to help the Milton Theatre offer summer camp scholarships to local children.

Recently, 30 club members and friends enjoyed the Milton Theatre’s Best of Broadway show starring veteran performer Grace Field. With part of the ticket price benefiting the scholarship fund, and enthusiastic audience members’ participation in a 50/50 raffle, the club netted more than $300 at its first small event dedicated to Living Life Artfully.

Through a series of future events, funds will continue to be raised to help support participation of local children in the theater summer camp program.

The camp will introduce children ages 4 to 18 to the world of theater, both as performers and as members of a live performance audience. Each week-long summer camp class features singing, dancing and speaking instruction, culminating in a performance of a youth version of a popular Broadway show.

The Women’s Club of Milton supports this arts enrichment initiative because it provides a creative outlet for local children to build confidence, use their imagination, develop team skills, and have some summer fun. Scholarships will be awarded to as many Milton-area children as possible to facilitate affordable participation.

The club is a member of the General Federation of Women's Clubs, one of the world’s oldest and largest women's service organizations dedicated to community improvement through volunteer service. Each club sets its own agenda, and works on projects and programs that address the specific needs of its communities.
