Women’s Club of Milton makes Valentine cards for community

February 29, 2020

To brighten up February, Women’s Club of Milton members recently enjoyed Valentine’s Day festivities along with their tradition of making cards for those in Milton and surrounding areas.

A group of 14 club members gathered over coffee to hand-design Valentine’s Day cards for distribution to local organizations. Valentine card-making has become a favorite event activity among club members who enjoy being creative. Most women return year after year because they know their efforts will result in some very happy recipients Feb. 14. As members tried to outdo each other with their individual creative flair, funny stories from card-making in past years brought some laughs for newer members participating.

More than 300 Valentine cards were made in all and were scheduled to be delivered to the Meals on Wheels program at Milton CHEER; Peach Tree Health Group, Harbeson; Salvation Army Developmental Disabilities Program, Millsboro; Georgetown Adult Day Program and Sand Hill Adult Day Program, Georgetown; and People’s Place Girls Group Home, Milford.

The club’s annual Valentine’s Day Tea took place a week later. The annual tea provides club members an opportunity to bring their favorite tea cups and, while sipping, share loving memories of Valentine’s Days past with family, friends and other club members.
