Women’s Club of Milton announces holiday fundraising efforts

November 4, 2021

The Women’s Club of Milton has announced its 2021 fundraising initiatives.

Since this is the second year the club canceled its annual holiday house tour for health and safety reasons, fundraising committee members put on their thinking caps to create alternative ways to raise money.

A sale of Dickens Village pieces by Department 56 will run through Friday, Dec. 31. Through a generous donation, the club received a selection of more than 100 preowned Dickens Village pieces. All have been lovingly cared for and are in excellent condition. Some are limited-edition or retired items.

The club has partnered with the Mercantile at Milton for the sale. Most prices range from $5 to $35. If people are looking for a specific item, they can inquire about the extensive inventory. The Mercantile at Milton is located at 109 Union St., Milton.

The club is raffling an original watercolor painting “All is Calm,” created and donated by Sue Dutton, Milton Arts Guild president.

A beautiful lap quilt in an array of purple, green, orange and brown colors is also being raffled.

Club members send a huge thank you to Sue Dutton for donating her painting and to club member CarolAnn Capobianco for donating the quilt.

Raffle tickets for the framed artwork and the quilt will be on sale at the Milton Holly Fest, Saturday, Dec. 11, the same date as the drawings. To purchase tickets in advance, call 302-329-9710. The watercolor raffle tickets are $5 each or three for $12; the quilt raffle tickets are $2 each or three for $5.

The club is selling festively wrapped packages of holiday notecards. Each package contains five different notecards and envelopes featuring artwork by past holiday house tour book cover artists. The notecard artists, all Milton Arts Guild members, are Cathy Rose, Ginny Barney, Carol Yost, Anne Buck and Barbara Coffin. The club extends thanks to these talented artists and to the Milton Arts Guild for supporting its fundraising efforts.

The holiday notecards make wonderful hostess gifts. The five-card assortment packages are $10 each at the following locations: The Mercantile at Milton, 109 Union St.; Lavender Fields at Warrington Manor, 18864 Cool Spring Road, Milton; and Lewes Gourmet, 110 Front St., Lewes.

The notecards also will be sold during Holly Fest from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Dec. 11, at the Women’s Club of Milton bake sale outside the Milton Historical Society at 210 Union St., and in the WCOM online pop-up store. The Women’s Club of Milton table at  Holly Fest can be found indoors at the Milton Fire House.

The club has partnered with Pro-Stitch Embroidery, a local Milton business, to create an online store featuring items such as coasters, ornaments, insulated bags, non-woven grocery bags, decorative license plates, and fleece jackets and vests. Dates and web address for the pop-up store will be published shortly.

The Women’s Club of Milton fundraising efforts benefit the community, including scholarship awards to Milton female high school graduates, Milton Community Food Pantry, Milton Public Library, Milton Fire Department, and Milton Elementary, H.O. Brittingham Elementary and Mariner Middle schools.

Women interested in membership may contact Carol Ann Stone at casflowers@comcast.net.
