Sussex Help Fund supports immigrant families in Sussex County who are in crisis due to the deportation of a family member. Funds from Sussex Help are dedicated to providing direct support to help families stay in their homes with heat, cooling and electricity while they work with a counselor on transition planning for next steps. The fund works in partnership with faith-based, community, and healthcare organizations serving immigrants in Sussex County.
Sussex Help is a volunteer-driven effort to support immigrant families with basic subsistence needs like food, diapers, and baby formula; transportation to medical appointments or grocery shopping, and assistance with rent and utilities expenses.
Sussex Help volunteers provide coaching and guidance to help families regain their independence, and coordinates with Delaware Volunteer Legal Services to offer legal protection and defense support.
The Sussex Help Fund is established at the Greater Lewes Foundation, a nonprofit that enables volunteer and philanthropic groups to receive tax-deductible donations, with transparent reporting and an internet link for one-time or recurring gifts.
