Workshop to explore Naturopathic Medicine and Cancer June 1

Dr. Kim Furtado to offer tools for prevention and treatment
May 5, 2019

Dr. Kim Furtado, ND, will offer a half-day workshop on Naturopathic Medicine and Cancer: Prevention and Supportive Care from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, June 1, at Lewes Public Library, 111 Adams Ave., Lewes. She will explore many aspects of cancer and empower attendees with specific tools regarding prevention and treatment from a naturopathic perspective.

In naturopathic practice since 2001, Furtado will share her knowledge about the innate wisdom of the body’s healing capacity, along with information about nutrition, botanical medicine and detoxification.

The workshop provides a basic understanding of cancer development, and how nutrition and exercise affect one’s cancer risk. Hormonal imbalances, nutritional deficiencies and toxic burden will be reviewed as they relate to cancer prevention. Important labwork that explores these aspects of health and wellness can be discussed. Tools for detoxification and reducing environmental risk factors will also be shared.

For those who are actively being or recently treated for cancer, the workshop will discuss strategies for after-treatment revitalization and nourishment. Common side effects of chemotherapy and radiation will also be discussed with a focus on naturopathic remedies used to reduce toxicity and protect efficacy.

Preregistration for the workshop is requested; walk-ins are welcome as space allows, but prospective attendees should call to confirm the event. To register or for more information, call 302-945-2107, email npih2001@yahoo.com or go to www.DrKimFurtado.com.
