Zwaanendael Women’s Club provides Easter meals for Cape families in need

With the help of community members and businesses, the GFWC Zwaanendael Women’s Club provided 27 Easter dinner food baskets for in-need Cape Henlopen High School families.

The food baskets included hams purchased with donated funds from the Harry K Foundation, and canned goods donated by community members during the club’s recent food drive sponsored by Blooming Boutique stores to restock the Cape Henlopen High School food pantry. Michael Davis, manager of the Acme Market in Lewes, supplied the hams at a generous discount.

Some 40 percent of Cape students are currently enrolled in the school's free and reduced lunch program. The CHHS food pantry is made available to in-need students and their families to supplement their basic food requirements. The Harry K Foundation works to eliminate food insecurity for children in Delaware, and the food bank at Cape Henlopen High School is one of over 30 pantries across the state supported by the foundation.
