July 3, 2022

Lewes-based Cat & Mouse Press announced that its book “Beach Secrets” has won two first-place awards from the National Federation of Press Women.

The awards, presented at the organization’s conference in Fargo, N.D., were for editing and for a collection of short stories by multiple authors. The book had previously received first-place state-level awards from Delaware Press Association.

Cat & Mouse Press will hold a party from 1 to 3 p.m., Saturday, July 9, at the Lewes Public Library to celebrate “Beach Secrets,” and to commemorate the sale of its 25,000th book.

Representatives from Browseabout Books will be on hand with Cat & Mouse Press books for adults and children, and authors will be there to inscribe and sign the books. The event is free, open to the public, and will include refreshments and entertainment for adults and children.

“Beach Secrets” contains 24 short stories, all set in and around Rehoboth Beach. Readers will meet philandering fiancés, teenage tinkerers and romantic rock stars; discover cryptic letters, historical legends and family secrets; and encounter a WWII submarine, an avenging wife and a lucky chicken. There are even a couple of crossword puzzles to solve.

Cat & Mouse Press was established to produce books and other materials that are fun, entertaining and of particular interest to residents of and visitors to the Delmarva region. To learn more, go to catandmousepress.com.
