‘Candace’s Playful Puppy’ children’s book event set Jan. 28

January 20, 2021

Browseabout Books and Lewes Public Library will host a virtual event with bestselling author Candace Cameron Bure discussing her new children’s picture book, “Candace’s Playful Puppy,” at 5 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 28, via Zoom.

Bure is known for her role as D.J. Tanner on the iconic family sitcoms “Full House” and “Fuller House,” and as a star of Hallmark Channel movies, a former co-host of “The View,” and an inspirational speaker.

This book for ages 4-8 will appeal to every boy or girl who has ever wanted a dog and every parent who knows the responsibility that goes along with caring for a pet. When Candace's new pup, Freckles, doesn't pay attention to her instructions, Candace's patience is tested, and her excitement over the new pet quickly fades. Freckles escapes, but ends up making a muddy return. Candace realizes being a great dog mommy isn't as easy as she thought.

Illustrated by Christine Battuz, “Candace’s Playful Puppy” teaches children how to be faithful to commitments, persevere through tough situations, and understand that patience is a skill that takes practice and hard work. Joining Bure in conversation is Madeleine Overturf, broadcast journalist at WRDE Coast TV, the Delmarva Peninsula’s NBC affiliate.

The event is free to the public. Registration is required at the Lewes Public Library’s Virtual Programs for Adults page. Participants also are encouraged to support the author by purchasing a copy of the book from local independent bookstore Browseabout Books. Each copy purchased comes with an archival bookplate signed by the author. Orders may be placed online at browseaboutbooks.com, by calling the store at 302-226-2665, or in person at 133 Rehoboth Ave., Rehoboth Beach.
